As another poster has pointed out, it is often a good idea to ID, even whites. Anything dropped in lvl 20 areas will benefit from an ID, often for much more than the cost of the ID.
As I generally ID everything before I merch.

WOW. in pre always identify. You might have had a +15% damage Vrs Charr Sword Pummel and you never identified it??? that is crazy. 80% of all identifiable blues in Presearing are "increased Value" mods. You have thrown away a TONE of gold. The 15% damage Pummel is at least 5-10K Not to mention 10K for a Blue Shield that is armor 8 + 7 Vrs Charr. That is the best Shield in Pre for someone who does not have war skills. I use it on my monk with a Holy Rod.
I would tend to agree with wanting an identify all. That is a GREAT IDEA as there has been times where I accidentally sold an unidentified item - mostly cause I was to lazy to identify it.
There would have to be some sort of thing if your kit has only 1 use left and it has to decide which of the 10 things that you have that are unidentified to identify.

Normally I only id blues, purples, and golds (but those only on my main char). As long as I remembered to set aside my golds so it wouldn't id those too while playing on another char, it would be nice. :P

Oh, really?
Average price of an unidentified common (white) item in dropped in Vabbi: 50g
Average price of an identified common (white) item dropped in Vabbi: 100g
Oh, my... that's double.
Any basic guide for beginners will teach them to identify ANYTHING before selling.
By the way, blues have the same rarity (common) as whites. The difference is that blues have properties and may have inscription lots.
This is NOT about laziness. This is about health and user-friendliness:
Suggestions like this or like this one another:

Are needed.
The less we click, the more our hands live.
Merchants should have an option:
(Identify all)
Click that option and all items are identified, and you lose 6 gold for each identified item.
The extra gold in each ID would be for your saved time. Time is gold, afterall.

As a lot of people have pointed out in this thread, people aren't aware that IDing whites is AWESOME. It basically doubles your income level in this game. If the id all option was added, it would help a LOT because people who didn't know this little tidbit would be more likely to discover it.

Even though weapons aren't blues, purples, etc. you can still greatly increase their value to merch.

What about remove all that crap drops forever, and increase gold drops? (both gold (money) and golden drops)

there should be a quest where we save deckard cain from tristram and after we save him we can talk to him to identify all the items in our inventory.
then he could always be next to our stashes, looking like hes about to steal our stuff, like in d2
